Michael Ethridge grew up in Wynne, Arkansas where he began drawing and painting as a youngster. He was encouraged by his mother, herself a painter, who worked in oil and was known for her wildlife scenes. While still in high school, Michael's work was accepted in a competition held at Arkansas State University. This generated his interest in their art department, and soon he enrolled there to continue his study in art.
Michael's favorite works are bold, vibrant, large abstracts which are currently being shown in galleries throughout six states. His work has also just been featured in Art Galleries and Artists of the South magazines, and At Home in Arkansas featured an article on Michael in April 2008.
Excitement surrounding Michael's work resulted in the Baldwin Piano Company choosing him to hand paint a one-of-a-kind grand piano for a line of luxury pianos they were launching. Three of his pieces have been selected for a major motion picture called "Nothing But the Truth" due out in the fall of 2008 staring Kate Beckinsale and Matt Dillon, and his work also graces the cover of a compilation CD of original songs by southern musicians.
