Anita Westerberg was born in Obbola, Sweden. After receiving a bachelor's degree in education and teaching for 18 years, she moved to Mobile, Alabama, where she attended the University of South Alabama and received a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree.
Anita is not afraid of color. Indeed, it is what drives her forward. To her, color is music to the eye. Anita views painting as an immediate and spontaneous response in which one stroke leads to the next, becoming a journey in which the destination is unknown.
She paints whatever interests her; Anita believes color, shape, and the excitement generated by the creative process are far more important than the subject matter.
Anita believes when a painting takes form, there is no way to stop the flow of the brush and the paint-knife over the canvas to capture that special moment.
Her Swedish heritage has given her the special gift to transfer some "Nordic light" to her paintings.
Anita is an award-winning artist, receiving several Best of Shows. She has her work in private and corporate collections in the USA and several European countries.
